How my YouTube video with 413,550 views earned less than $3

Most YouTubers get so caught up in the numbers.

The views, the subs, the vanity metrics.

When the only thing that TRULY matters, is making enough money to pay your bills.

Here’s the story:

In 2017, I started uploading a bunch of YouTube guide videos to help fellow YouTubers grow their channel.

At this point, I had over 16,000 subscribers and millions of views on my channel.

I had a lot of good information for YouTubers that were starting out…

But that didn’t matter.

Trolls that don’t understand how YouTube works would comment on my videos and livestreams. They accused me of buying subscribers because all my videos didn’t get at least 16,000 views…

Keep in mind – I have a variety channel with a segmented subscriber base…

So I took this as a personal challenge.

I KNEW that I could create a video that got a lot of views EASILY but I was more focused on making videos i WANTED to make.

I created a video that now has over 413,550 views to prove my point.

The interesting thing is:

Trolls STILL comment the same types of things due to their ignorance and unwillingness to do ANY research.

And that video that has over 413,550 views earned me $2.94.

The ads on the video are limited.

I aimed at ranking on the first page of YouTube for “Porn On YouTube” and I hit the mark.

The actual video was about how there’s a bunch of porn on YouTube and it should be reported and stopped. It’s actually very safe for work…

The point is:

It doesn’t matter what strangers on the internet think about your numbers.

Getting a lot of views is great but it’s meaningless if it’s not a video you’re PASSIONATE about or makes you money.

Focus on what you ENJOY.

Focus on doing things that make you money – over doing things that get you *exposure*.
