There are 2 types of customers you’ll deal with…
This morning, I had the pleasure of waking up to 2 very different types of twitter DMs.
These DMs were sent to me from 2 VERY different types of customers.
One of these DMs resulted in me blocking the sender…
And, the other DM resulted in me offering more of my time to help the sender create a full-time income online…
Which response would you prefer?
Let’s talk about customer number 1.
We’ll call this guy “El Cheapo”…
El Cheapo crawled into my DMs on Sunday…
He asked me many questions about my ARK server services…
Questions that are clearly answered on my website…in my tutorial videos and in the FAQ located on my website…
Red flag.
I answered his questions and directed the gentleman to use the information provided on my website etc.
Eventually, I had to tell the dude to please not message me again unless he actually made a purchase from my site…
Freeloaders often attack my DMs, asking me to provide advice and services for free…I don’t have time for that at ALL, especially not on SUNDAY.
So, I assumed this dude was another freeloader and I went to bed (without watching Game Of Thrones).
Here’s the thing:
When I woke up the next day, El Cheapo had actually purchased one of my premade codes…
(These are the cheapest products I sell…)
I suggested he purchase a premade code when he asked about my services…because I don’t like working for people that cannot follow instructions and read the provided information BEFORE asking me 100 questions…
El Cheapo messaged me, telling me that he got the premade code working but he needed some help making some other changes…
He then asked me to look through his code and see what he had done wrong…
Keep in mind:
This is a tedious, time-consuming service that I DON’T ENJOY.
I charge £199.99 for this service on my website.
And, El Cheapo wanted me to do this for him for FREE.
So here’s what I did:
I explained: I’m sorry I can’t offer this service for free as I must be paid for my time.
Then, I asked El Cheapo NOT to contact me again unless it was related to his purchase.
I also told El Cheapo NOT to order any of my custom services as I do not want to take him on as a client.
Why did I refuse to work for him?
Because, I’ve dealt cheapo customers like this before…
They ask for the WORLD but they aren’t willing to pay for it…
They’ll ask you to do a bunch of work for free and they get mad when you ask to be paid for it…
These customers are usually the people I destroy like Harvey Specter when they file false chargeback claims against me…
Obviously, I was very respectful when I refused service to El Cheapo:
I explained how it wouldn’t be a good fit for either of us and I wished him all the best with his server.
That was the end of the story in my mind…
But, not to El Cheapo.
Oh no.
He just HAD to send me another message…trying to guilt me into working for him.
Here’s the message I got from him this morning:
“Ngl i dont think ive ever met a bigger douchebag in my life lol wtf dude”
– El Cheapo
I didn’t bother replying to this message…
I didn’t justify my choice to not work with him…
I just blocked him.
And, it’s clear to me I made the correct choice.
This is why I’m thankful I put myself in a position to be able to turn down work like this…
Luckily, all my messages aren’t from cheapo customers!
In fact:
This morning I received a DM from a student enrolled in my premium “YouTube For Noobs” course.
He’s NOWHERE NEAR as entitled as El Chapo.
This message actually put a smile on my face this morning…
Here it is:
“Hi Jay, I want to say your course is great, loving it.
I was wonderng if you had a discord? It says that you do in the course however the link is broken . Giving you a heads up.
BTW a big thanks on opening my mind in SEO, I am testing it on lower searched games and it is just an experiment and wow never expected to rank like that.
I have to say too, tested it on a tutorial video and the views keep going up on it a big thank you and I hope to keep making content that people want”
– IonPrime
This DM does a few things right:
1. It starts with positive feedback (most sane people will respond well to this) from a PAYING CUSTOMER.
2. It offers me actionable feedback (i fixed my discord link immediately)
3. IonPrime briefly shares his experiments and results with me…This is SUPER important…
The reason why:
Knowing that IonPrime is:
ACTUALLY USING MY ADVICE/SYSTEM
PUTTING IN THE WORK in his OWN time…
WITHOUT asking me 100 questions beforehand…
Makes me WANT TO HELP HIM MORE!
So here’s what I did:
I sent IonPrime my private discord link so we can talk more and I can help him reach his goals…
I also checked out IonPrime’s channel and I LOVE the branding and theme he’s going for…so I’m EVEN more excited to HELP!
These are the types of experiences you have with your customers when you RAISE YOUR PRICES!
PREMIUM customers UNDERSTAND the VALUE of what they’re buying much more than cheapo customers.
And, when you charge more…you’re able to dedicate MORE of your time to helping your customers get the RESULT they want!
The truth is:
My private discord is kind of a BETA of my group mentoring program that I plan to do at some point…
Of course, I don’t advertise this…because I don’t want to be FORCED to HAVE to be in there…
But, if you join the YouTube For Noobs course…you also get invaluable access to me and my knowledge…
I’m super passionate about helping you with business development and making a full-time income doing something you love…so I’m excited to discuss your plans/goals and help you reach them!
This type of hands-on coaching from me usually costs at LEAST $270 an hour…but my students get access to this for FREE…until I release the future group mentoring program…
So, don’t miss out on this opportunity if it sounds helpful to you!
No El Cheapos are welcome though…
